Middle School at LGJ: Grades 6–8

At The Bronx School for Law, Government and Justice, our middle school program serves students in grades 6 through 8, providing a strong academic foundation and a vibrant community experience that prepares them for high school and beyond.

🎓 Academic Excellence & Growth

LGJ’s middle school curriculum is designed to challenge and inspire. Students engage in core subjects including English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, while also exploring enrichment opportunities in physical education, the arts, and technology. Our interdisciplinary approach encourages critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world application of knowledge.

  • ELA & Humanities: Students develop strong reading, writing, and analytical skills through literature, nonfiction texts, and civic-based inquiry.

  • Mathematics: From foundational skills to algebra readiness, our math program builds confidence and problem-solving ability.

  • Science: Hands-on labs and inquiry-based learning foster curiosity in life, earth, and physical sciences.

  • Social Studies: Students explore history, geography, government, and global cultures with an emphasis on civic engagement.

  • Electives & Enrichment: Offerings may include visual arts, music, coding, health literacy, and media production.

Academic support is available through advisory, tutoring, and targeted interventions, ensuring every student has the tools to succeed.

🎉 8th Grade Milestones

Our 8th graders are celebrated as the senior leaders of middle school. As they prepare to transition to high school, they participate in cherished LGJ traditions:

  • 8th Grade Formal: A special evening of celebration and community.

  • Stepping Up Ceremony: A proud moment where students are officially recognized as rising high schoolers.

These events honor their growth and mark the beginning of their next academic chapter.

Middle school students wear:

  • White button-up shirts

  • Black slacks

  • LGJ’s signature striped middle school tie

Additional uniform items, such as sweaters and outerwear, are available for purchase directly through the school.
